Blackcurrant is a woody shrub cultivated many regions throughout the world with numerous health advantages. The scientific name of the Blackcurrant is Ribes nigrum. It belongs to the genus Grossulariaceae family. It is believed that this delicious fruit is native to temperate parts of central and northern Europe and northern Asia, but now it is also cultivated all over the world both commercially and domestically.
